Willem's journey from a loyal employee to a respected business owner is a testament to his dedication, skill, and entrepreneurial vision. His career in plumbing started in South Africa, where he earned his Red Seal Plumbing Certificate in 2010 and owned his own businesses for the past 30 years. In pursuit of new opportunities for himself, his wife, sons, and daughter, Willem immigrated to Canada at the end of 2020—right at the height of the COVID pandemic. Uprooting his family during such an uncertain global moment demanded courage, resilience, and an unwavering belief that anything is possible in life when you commit fully to your goals.

Upon arriving in Canada, Willem joined a well‑established plumbing company renowned for its quality service. Over the next four years, he worked tirelessly, managing everything from routine maintenance to complex installations. This period was crucial for him; he refined his technical abilities, mastered customer service nuances, and gained a comprehensive understanding of the Canadian plumbing market.

In October 2023, he earned his Canadian Red Seal Plumbing Certificate, further solidifying his expertise.

Willem's problem‑solving prowess and dedication to customer satisfaction are set to drive Plumblink Plumbing Inc. to success. Despite his achievements as an employee, his entrepreneurial spirit was always evident. After accumulating invaluable experience, he decided to forge his own path. With a dream to not only provide plumbing services but also to be a reliable, honest plumbing company, Willem launched Plumblink Plumbing Inc. He entered this new venture equipped with his savings, a clear business strategy, and an unyielding ambition to leave a significant mark in the plumbing industry.

After about three months of operating independently, Willem entered into a strategic partnership with a like‑minded professional who shared his values and long‑term vision. This collaboration strengthened the company’s capabilities, expanded its service capacity, and reinforced the foundation needed for sustainable growth.

Starting his own business was fraught with challenges. Willem had to tackle the intricacies of business management, including securing permits, insurance, and effectively marketing his new plumbing enterprise. However, his years in the field had endowed him with a solid network, a reputation for quality craftsmanship, and operational business insights, all of which were instrumental during his company's nascent phase.

Willem's approach to business is grounded in transparency, honesty, and reliability, focusing on fostering trust and cultivating enduring client relationships. His transition in Canada, from an employee to a business owner, underscores the power of hard work, vision, and the belief that even with the challenges of immigration, anything is possible when you stay committed to your purpose.

Hopefully, Willem's story serves as an inspiration for those in the trade aspiring to make their own mark, demonstrating that with the right combination of skill, dedication, and entrepreneurial drive, one can achieve their aspirations and contribute significantly to the community.

The Story...

Growing up, I was always drawn to working with my hands. In high school, woodshop and metal shop were the classes I looked forward to most. I enjoyed building, creating, and solving problems, but I also knew I wanted a career where I could help people in a meaningful way. For me, the choice came down to either becoming a teacher or pursuing a skilled trade. After graduating, I chose plumbing a career that combined hands on craftsmanship, technical skill, and the opportunity to make a real difference for customers every day.

Coming from a Romanian family, I was raised with strong values centered around discipline, hard work, and pride in what you do. My parents taught me that if you commit to something, you should never do it halfway , you should strive to master it and take pride in excelling at it. That mindset has shaped who I am both personally and professionally. Whether it’s work, hobbies, or passions outside of plumbing, I’ve always been the kind of person who pushes myself to improve and be the best I can be.

I completed my plumbing apprenticeship with a company that provided exceptional training and experience across all aspects of the trade. Through years of hands on work, I developed a strong foundation in plumbing systems, customer care, and problem solving. With over 10,000 hours of experience in the plumbing field, I’ve learned that quality workmanship and honesty are what truly build long lasting relationships with clients.

When Willem and I joined forces to build Plumblink Plumbing Inc., my perspective on the trade evolved even further. Plumbing became about more than pipes, fixtures, and installations it became about helping people, delivering reliable service, and creating a company customers can genuinely trust. Alongside the technical side of the business, I also began navigating the financial and operational responsibilities that come with running a company. Learning how to properly assess projects, price jobs fairly, and balance quality workmanship with honesty. I believe customers deserve clear communication and realistic expectations about the work being performed, the time required, and the value they are receiving. Building that trust through fairness and transparency is just as important to me as the plumbing work itself.

Together, Willem and I share a vision of building a business known for professionalism, integrity, and high standards of workmanship. Every project we take on is approached with the same commitment to quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction that helped us build our reputation in the industry.

Today, I, Daniel Toma, proudly run Plumblink Plumbing Inc. alongside Willem, focused on growing the company into one that is respected not only for the quality of our work, but also for the honesty, fairness, and care we bring to every customer and every job.
